Fighting Food Waste, Tackling Food Insecurity
London Veg Box donates all food surplus through its sister organisation, SW Fruit & Veg.
SW Fruit & Veg is committed to reducing food waste and supporting local communities. Our mission is to donate surplus healthy food from local organisations to local charities, ensuring that no food goes to waste while providing nutritious meals to those in need.
At SW Fruit & Veg, we believe in the power of food to bring people together and create positive change. By working with local organisations and charities, we aim to foster a sense of community and collaboration, while also helping to improve the health and well-being of those in need.
If you share our passion for reducing food waste and supporting those in need, we invite you to join us in our mission to create a more sustainable and equitable food system.

How Does It Work?
We work closely with farmers, distributors, and retailers to collect fresh fruits and vegetables that may not meet commercial standards but are still perfectly edible and nutritious. We then distribute this surplus food to local charities and community organisations that serve individuals and families who are struggling with food insecurity.

Testimonials

"We are so grateful for your ongoing donations. Your generosity means that guests get fresh fruit and veg, and the rest goes into tasty meals that they have to take home with them."

"From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much again, we couldn’t have done it without you. You have made some very happy unwell patients and improved the morale of NHS staff."

"Before we started working together the food parcels were going out without any fresh fruit or vegetables at all and this was not great when we were trying to ensure people were having balanced and nutritious food."

"Well what can I say – it has been fantastic. To have beautiful fruit and vegetable delivered to our office each week by your lovely people has been a highlight to the week."

Our Impact
Thanks to our supporters, we managed to increase charity donations to £500 a week in the first lockdown, which helped to feed those on the frontline, the homeless and families in need. We've donated the equivalent of 250,000 apples. Supported 6 local charities. And helped cook up over 200 hot meals a week since March 2020.
Cost Of Living Appeal 2023
While lockdown may now seem like a distant memory, the impact of the pandemic will be felt for a long time and needs are higher than ever in 2023. There is currently not enough healthy food available at Food Banks and we need your help to try and fix this.
"We used to feed 25 households a week. Now it’s up to 100". Earlsfield Foodbank.
